A teenage native boy stands in the shadows of a deserted building. He is dressed with a bandana on his head, jeans, and a paint-splattered tee shirt. It is downtown in Hot Springs, South Dakota and the streets are deserted. His name is Navo, at least that’s his tag name. He’s a Lakota from the Pine Ridge Reservation and is a well known graffiti artist the cops would love the catch. But he is very clever and so far, he has been pretty lucky. This is Navo’s story. He is a talented artist with a reputation that goes far beyond the state line. He even has a very high IQ, according to the school principal. Where he lives is a rough and tough inner-city where his survival is intertwined with his drive to do his art.
